Over the last few months the 99 Mount Gallery has had a theme of exhibitions of prominent Spanish artists, the first being that of Tapies, followed by Miro and Dali. Continuing on this theme the gallery is pleased to announce the hosting of an exhibition by one of Spain's leading contemporary artists, Felix Anaut.

This small exhibition will cover works from the last 3 years on canvas and paper, and ceramics, plus a couple of earlier bronzes. The theme of the exhibition follows the evolution of his work from an exhibition hosted in Cape Town in 2011 (Barnard Gallery), and a special series of work executed for this exhibition, one of which, a canvas, will be appearing in the contemporary art sales in Sotheby's (London) at the end of June.

Antoni Tapies at 99 Mount Gallery

99 Mount Gallery is once again very pleased to present a collection of etchings by the highly acclaimed Catalan artist Antoni Tapies (1923 – 2012).

Tapies is not only known as a painter but also a renowned lithographer and etcher. Etchings in this exhibition were created during the 1980's and explore the philosophy of the 13th Century Catalan Theologian Ramon Llull.

We are proud to bring this exhibition for the people in Mayfair and London at large as 2013 marks a significant year for Antoni Tapies with a major Solo exhibition in May in Venice, coinciding with the Venice Biennale, and two major retrospectives in Spain in June.

You are welcome to take part in an interactive workshop and listen to the artist explaining the fundamental techniques of etching, in reference to his own work and the work of Antoni Tapies currently exhibited at the gallery.

Etching, as a method of printmaking, is one of the most important techniques used in old master prints and has been extensively practiced by artists till today. It will be interesting to see what etchings capture, that other mediums cannot.

The title of the show alludes to the hand's creative power and the printmaking process, which involves a translation of intentions onto paper. This suggests a reaffirmation of the privileged position that technical mastery occupies in the graphic arts and which has enabled Bosich's practice to evolve and transform in exciting and diverse ways.

The title of the exhibition "One out of Many: Life in growing Africa" is focused on how an individual, even within a mass of humanity, can shine with resilience, be a vessel of culture held across generations, and find joy and companionship despite what can be a challenging background. The paintings display images of dense urban architecture, vibrant markets, tradition and romance in the context of African living.

One of the most established philosophical artists and possibly the last "genuine" painter of the 20th century, Antoni Tapies, whose artworks are part of the collections at the Tate Modern, Guggenheim and MoMA museums, is currently exhibited at 99 Mount Street until the 16th February 2013.

99 Mount Street Gallery is hosting a talk dedicated to Antoni Tapies. The overview on his ideas and practice will reflect the tendencies of how his artistic expression and spiritualism have developed throughout his work from 1945 to 2012. The talk is delivered by art critic and
curator Patricia Ellis; she is a specialist in contemporary art and cultural theory working with
international museums and publications.

Herakut is a powerhouse artist duo consisting of Jasmin Siddiqui, a.k.a Hera, born 1981 in Frankfurt, West Germany, and Falk Lehmann, a.k.a Akut born 1977 in Schmalkalden, East Germany. Both of them met at an urban-art festival in Seville Spain, and since then, began collaborating in lobe and art in 2004.  The duo, each with a distinctive background brings a contradictory mix of ingredients to their works- Akut's self-taught photorealism and Hera's background from strict technique from classical education, results in an odd but always
exquisitely beautiful, instantly recognisable style. Since 2004, Herakut has exhibited and
worked in major cities like London, Berlin, New York and Paris, as well as unorthodox cities
like Ekaterinburg in Russia and Campeche, Mexico. Two of Herakut's publications, 'The
Perfect Merge' (2009) and 'After the Laughter'(2011) have received great acclaim, selling
over 10,000 copies worldwide.
Robi Walters's Artist Talk
